As I looked over the survey results, I was both incredibly uplifted and extremely saddened. We'll start with why I was sad because I want to end this post on a happy note.
I was saddened because there were a couple of kids that were incredibly hard on themselves. Someone said that the reason they felt bad about themselves was because of how skinny they were. Others said, "when people point out my insecurities", "looking at other girls who are 'skinnier' or 'prettier' than me", "when I have a bad acne day". I wanted to find everyone of these kids and give them all a big huge hug. There is so much value in everyone of these individuals!
I was uplifted because I couldn't believe how many people said incredibly wise things in their response to the second question. I mean, these are the kids I go to school with everyday! I could tell that the majority of them had put thought and effort into their words. (There will be another, more detailed post about these later.)
Anyway, here are the results from the first question that also made me happy:
The majority of the people that got this survey felt really good about themselves. Three fourths of them rated their perception as a six or higher. I don't know if they just got it on a good day or what, but that makes me happy.
I am so excited for this project! We are putting our posters up in our school bathrooms this week!
